Eating Organic Foods Made Flies Live Longer: Last September, Stanford researchers found that organic food doesn’t confer any additional nutritional value over its conventional counterparts. A study conducted at Southern Methodist University has found, however, that when fed organic food, flies performed better on a series of health tests than the flies who didn’t eat organic goods. The flies raised on organics were generally more fertile and had longer lifespans. Whether these results translate to humans or not is yet to be seen, but they do suggest that on a food-by-food basis, there may be hope for scientifically proven health benefits of an organic diet.
