Winter Citrus: What to Do With It (Besides Ogle These Photos): The food blogger and photographer Matt Armendariz, who has worked with and been featured in magazines such as The New Yorker, Bon Appetit, Saveur, and Martha Stewart, among many others, has a new post up on his site, “Matt Bites,” that is as beautiful as it is informative. In it, he delves into the ways he and his family have been enjoying citrus fruits in the colder months, and includes stunning pictures to go with each of his suggested uses. The most interesting of the bunch are tempura-battered lemon slices mixed in with potato chips, and also his recipe for candied kumquats. His lime margaritas, lemon curd, and sweet chili lime sauce don’t look too bad either, though. It’s a refreshing break from the heavy stews and soups that make up standard winter fare.
