Is Your Waiter the Cause of Your Flu?: The norovirus, a highly contagious bug similar to the stomach flu, is not what most people order when they go out to eat. But The Centers for Disease Control recently tracked 53%, and possibly up to 82%, recent outbreaks of the disease to food service workers. Why would waiters come to work when they’re dizzy and nauseous? Because many restaurants don’t offer paid sick leave, so there’s a major impetus to show up.
