Winter Fancy Food Festival: The Fancy Food Show is taking place in San Francisco this week, where buyers for upscale delis, gourmet shops, and specialty stores are scoping out the latest in high-end snacks. Over 1,300 companies have booths at the show, and USA Today has the skinny on the trends that we can expect to see pop up as the year rolls on. According to the list, we’ll be treated to vegetable and fruit oils, like cherry pit oil and chilli seed oil, as well as herbal drinks (think broccoli cilantro tea from Numi Orangaics in Oakland). Also on the roster was coconut and black walnuts, a nut that leaves everything it touches (you guessed it) black. Only time will tell, but it’s looking like 2013 could be a little bit nuts.
