How Food Pros Avoid Weight Gain: Have you ever watched Top Chef and wondered how on earth the judges don’t weigh 500 pounds? Top Chef judge Gail Simmons, among others, recently shared their tips on fending off the pounds with CNN’s Eatocracy blog. Simmons says she’ll make a vegetable soup on Sunday night and eat it throughout the week on nights when she isn’t out on tastings. Danny Bowen, of the restaurant Mission Chinese in San Francisco, brings his manager with him when he goes to other restaurants and makes him eat the freebies chefs send out. But the best tip (and the one that requires the most will power) came from Stephanie Izard, of Little Goat, a diner in Chicago: “It’s all about taking only a bite of everything.”
