Vodka Saves Elephants Stranded in Siberia: When the trailer they were traveling through Siberia in caught fire, two circus elephants were forced out into the bitter cold while they waited for a truck to come drive them to a nearby gymnasium. To combat the freezing temperatures, the elephants’ trainers gave them vodka diluted in warm water, which staved off frostbite and pneumonia, without harming or intoxicating them.
